Our story

Owner of KinderZorg Bijzonder: Denise Toonen, founded DeniseZorg in April 2006. She was then working as an independent district nurse so that she could continue to combine her work with intensive care for her son with care needs.

Logeerhuis Bijzonder was founded in 2014 by Denise and her husband Edwin. As their residential home was already fully equipped for a child in need of care, Denise and Edwin started welcoming other children into the family for a lodging option with appropriate care.

"What I can do for my son, I can also do for other children," Denise said.

It soon became clear that there was more need for this form of care in the region. Therefore, in September 2016, the Children's Care Home in Zeeland (NB) was opened for lodging. This was soon followed by the opening of the Nursing Child Care Home in November 2016. During the week, the Nursing Day Care Centre was running and on weekends and holidays, the Logeerhuis was open.

Due to entering into contracts within the Long-Term Care Act (Wlz), DeniseZorg became an official B.V. in October 2017, named DeniseZorg B.V. Because DeniseZorg B.V. was growing, the Knowledge Centre was opened at another location in Zeeland (NB) in January 2018. From here, all administrative and financial matters were handled.

Demand for care at the Nursery was high, which is why the 'Caterpillar' group moved to a new annex on the KinderZorgHuis site in Zeeland (NB) in April 2019.

Besides caring for toddlers, there was also demand for care for a Children's Day Centre for children 0 to 18 years old. Therefore, in January 2022, the Children's Day Centre called 'The Butterflies' opened. A year later, in January 2023, another Nursing Children's Day Centre called 'The Flyers' opened.

As we focused on child care and no longer on district nursing, a name change took place in July 2023 where DeniseZorg B.V. changed to KinderZorg Bijzonder B.V.

In November 2024, KinderZorg Bijzonder pushed its boundaries and opened the Nursing Nursery called 'De Bijtjes' in Beek en Donk.
