Children's day centre Bijzonder

Our day-care centre is for children aged 0 to 18 with physical and/or mental disabilities. The children are developmentally delayed and suffer from various disabilities which have made them exempt from compulsory education from the age of five. In a warm, homely environment, your child can be himself or herself. Because the groups are small (a maximum of nine children), there is plenty of room for personal attention.

More is often possible than you think! Do you doubt whether your child qualifies for care at our children's day centre Bijzonder? Just give us a call. We are happy to discuss your personal situation and think with you about the most appropriate care for your child. Our goal is to make sure your child feels safe and comfortable with us and has a meaningful day, while focusing on the best possible care for your child. We like to focus on what is possible.

We have multidisciplinary cooperation with external therapists who regularly visit the Children's Day Centre. These include speech therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Is your child familiar with in-house therapists? If so, they are of course welcome and we are happy to work together.

Our day-care centre is open from Monday to Friday. During public holidays and Southern Region holidays, the day-care centre is closed. We then offer the possibility of receiving care within our day care.

LACCS method for the best possible care of children with (severe) intellectual and/or physical disabilities

The LACCS method helps us improve children's quality of life by focusing on five key areas: physical well-being, alertness, contact, communication and a meaningful day. During a six-monthly assessment meeting, your child's situation is discussed using a 'good life' interview using the LACCS method.

Stimulate motor skills, senses and communication with 'Experience it'

The 'Experience it' method offers a valuable addition to our approach. It helps children with disabilities discover their world through experience. This approach focuses on stimulating motor skills, senses and communication. For example, children experience what happens when they touch an object, make a sound or perform an action. This strengthens their independence, self-confidence and connection with their environment.

'Just experience it' aligns beautifully with the LACCS method, in which we look at physical well-being, alertness, contact, communication and meaningful daytime activities. By combining these methods, we ensure that sensory and motor stimulation are an integral part of daily supervision. This gives children with care needs an environment in which they can actively explore.
